Interestingly, self-care and resilience are closely linked. I recently came across a statistic that nearly 40% of employees experience burnout. This burnout is costly for companies, resulting in significant financial losses each year. As workplace demands increase, burnout symptoms such as mental exhaustion and fatigue are expected to rise.

Work has been both a source of satisfaction and sometimes an escape for me. However, I've realized the importance of finding meaning and purpose in areas outside of my job. Yoga has been a great way for me to release stress, practice mindful breathing, and get exercise. I used to be skeptical of yoga, but regular practice has changed my perspective. Even simple things like taking a moment to appreciate the mountain scenery or spending a few minutes organizing my thoughts can be incredibly helpful.

Travel is another way I find refuge. It has exposed me to different lifestyles and cultures. This exposure has increased my joy for life and helped me realize two things: first, everyone has their own way of navigating life, second, I have a lot to be grateful for, and third, I don’t need to eat fish scales again anytime soon.Â

Resilient minds are cultivated; they don’t just happen by chance. Give yourself a chance to be resilient.
