I’m not sure I’d say I’ve ever truly hit rock bottom, despite the challenges I’ve faced. No matter the circumstances or odds, I’ve always found a way to get back up and keep going. That tenacity is simply a part of who I am.
Our childhood and adult experiences shape how we show up in the world—how we relate to our family, friends, and careers. But when those experiences are compounded by chronic stress and the constant demands of day-to-day life, it’s easy to get stuck in a cycle, repeating patterns we know aren’t serving us. Over time, the adversity we endure can start to feel normal.
Several pivotal moments have profoundly shaped my life and reshaped my perspective, including:
Finding my father dead in his home in 2006.
Meeting and marrying my husband in 2011.
Losing my husband in 2024.
Each of these experiences changed me deeply, altering the way I view life, adversity, and how I navigate it. There were moments when I managed it poorly and others when I managed it well. But every one of these moments gave me valuable tools and opportunities to improve how I approach my life, business, and career.
Adversity has the power to shift your perspective, helping you focus with intention on what truly matters. While adversity will always present challenges, you have the choice to turn those challenges into opportunities for growth. It can help remove the blindfolds of your circumstances and uncover hope for better outcomes.
And for the record, dodging a hungry bulldog is like running from someone throwing a bowling ball at your feet.
